Caroll Shelby was a Texanpilot who was forced tostop his career in 1960at the age of 37, due tohealth concerns. Thusbegan a dream of his toproduce the ultimate Americansports car, capable ofcompeting with the likes ofFerrari and Porsche. First,the chassis, that he found with the English manufacturerAC Bristol. Associated to a Ford V8, the car quickly becamea winner. Facing off against the much heavier Corvettes, thelight Cobra raced through the American states in its questfor glory. The 427 was launched in 1965 with a redesignedchassis, widened tires, buffed up wings, and a 427 inch cubeengine – 7 liters – for an amazing horsepower of 410.
